Connecting Remote Communities
The Brief:
Sussex was engaged to provide integrated regulatory, strategic communications, government relations, and commercial advisory services for a major transmission line project aimed at connecting remote, fly-in First Nations communities to the provincial power grid. The 2 billion project involved a partnership between 24 First Nations and a major international asset management company.
From initial conception of the opportunity, followed by supporting legislative, regulatory, and policy changes that were required to bring the project to fruition, through to important changes related to the pandemic, Sussex worked with multiple government decision-makers to ensure that the project’s interests were safeguarded and advanced.
The Result:
By taking an integrated approach, we successfully aligned messaging and objectives, enhancing public and government support for the project. The stakeholder engagement efforts facilitated smooth execution and increased visibility of the project's milestones. Sussex is incredibly proud to have supported this transformational project, which has set a precedent for future energy infrastructure projects with Indigenous ownership.
