Sussex Strategy Group Announces New Vice President to the Energy and Environment Practice

TORONTO – 9 July 2018 – Sussex Strategy Group, one of Canada’s premier government relations and strategic communications firms, is pleased to announce that Devin McCarthy has joined the Energy and Environment Practice as Vice President, Federal. Devin will be based in the Sussex Ottawa office.

Devin has spent the past decade working in the Nation’s Capital on federal energy and environment policy issues. Following two years at the Privy Council Office, Devin spent nine years with the Canadian Electricity Association, representing the interests of Canadian electricity companies before federal policy-makers. During his tenure at CEA Devin led many of the Association’s principle policy areas, including electricity generation, transmission and distribution; climate change and environmental stewardship legislation; infrastructure and innovation funding mechanisms; and Canada-U.S. policy. As Vice President of Public Affairs and U.S. Policy, Devin also had responsibility for CEA’s Government Relations strategy and Communications team.

Devin is a regular speaker at conferences, writes often on policy issues and stays plugged into international developments. He has participated in a wide range of federal stakeholder committees, has significant experience navigating the political processes of Washington, DC, and has attended the last three United Nations climate meetings (COPs) starting with COP21 in Paris.

In his new role, Devin will serve clients in the energy sector domestically and globally to both analyze and impact the complex government and regulatory environment, as well as serve the firm’s broader federal government relations practice and its clients.

Sussex is excited at the depth of knowledge and experience Devin will bring to both the Federal practice and its Energy and Environment Practice.

Sussex Strategy Group provides comprehensive government relations and strategic communications services in multiple markets across the country. With practice areas at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels, Sussex represents many prominent companies and organizations across a variety of sectors, including energy, environment, health care, infrastructure, and financial services, to name a few.
