Post-Election Cabinet Overview: Prime Minister Trudeau Unveils Executive Team for 44th Parliament

Today at Rideau Hall, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the members of his new Cabinet. These 38 individuals, 19 women and 19 men, will work with Trudeau to manage the implementation of the Liberal Government’s agenda in this, their third mandate. It is a massive shakeup, with only 12 Ministers maintaining the portfolios they held prior to the September 20th election.

Since the election in September, the Prime Minister has repeatedly said that the results indicate to him that Canadians want the government to get back to work. With his Cabinet named and with the date of Parliament’s return set at November 22nd, Trudeau will now focus his attention – and that of his team – to making best use of the 44th parliamentary session to implement the priorities set out in their election platform. There is much to deliver, and with a minority parliament, perhaps not so much time to do it in.
