ABOUT
Wayne Farmer is a seasoned private markets professional and international business leader with over 30 years of experience originating and structuring investment transactions across Southeast Asia, Greater China, and selected global markets. He has held advisory, GP, LP, and principal roles in private equity, with deep expertise in deal origination, business strategy, fundraising, and investor relations.
Wayne began his career in Canadian federal politics, holding roles in the Office of the Prime Minister and with the Minister of Supply and Services. In 1993, he moved to Asia, where he has since lived and worked in Singapore, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Beijing. Over the past two decades, he has advised governments, operating companies, general partners, and institutional investors across the region and globally.
As a private markets professional, Wayne has originated over USD $3.4 billion in deal flow, with more than USD $600 million in closed transactions across private equity, infrastructure, and strategic advisory mandates. He is skilled in deal origination, fundraising, capital strategy, investor relations, and cross-border execution, with an extensive global network spanning LPs, family offices, government agencies, and C-suites. He also serves as Managing Partner of a boutique investment advisory firm supporting clients on market entry, fundraising, and board-level planning. Wayne has previously advised organizations including GE Capital Asia, Redcore Geothermal Philippines, and OPTrust, and currently holds current roles with other firms as Board Chair and IC committee Member, Board Director and Senior Advisor.
Since 2012, Wayne has served as President of CABC, a volunteer role in which he has grown the organization to over 90 corporate members and 14,000 stakeholders and accredited in 2025 by the ASEAN Secretariat as only 1 of 3 private sector partners thus honored. He is a recognized advocate for Canada-ASEAN relations, frequently engaging with the 10 ASEAN Member State’s Ministerial and Executive leadership, Canadian Federal and Provincial Cabinet Ministers, industry business organisations, senior officials, and media on trade policy, investment, and regional cooperation.
Wayne holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University, a BA from Queen’s University, and a Diploma in Public Company Directorship from Singapore Management University.
In recognition of his contributions to public service and ASEAN advocacy on behalf of Canada, he was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Outside of work, Wayne remains active in the Canadian expatriate community and spends his time traveling, speaking, and promoting Canada’s economic and diplomatic engagement across the ASEAN region.
