As Director within Sussex’s Strategic Communications practice, Raman’s expertise resides at the intersection of corporate communications, issues and reputation management, and public affairs.
Raman helps clients achieve their strategic goals through effective communication with external and internal stakeholders, successfully navigating high-profile issues and large-scale transformation initiatives. She has put client issues on the public radar by securing op-eds in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Hill Times, iPolitics, Policy Options, and Longwoods.
Raman's public affairs expertise was honed throughout her tenure at the Ontario Medical Association during a high-profile labour negotiation period between government and physicians. As Manager of Communications and Issues at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), she provided communication counsel and support for complex and high-stakes situations, including labour relations, health and safety, governance, human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion, activism and litigation.
Raman holds an BA Honours from the University of Toronto, a Master's degree in Professional Communication from Toronto Metropolitan University, and a Crisis Leadership in Higher Education certificate from Harvard University’s Kennedy School. She is a 2021 Civic Action DiverseCity Fellow and serves on the City of Toronto's Board of Health. Raman has also received numerous awards and recognition, including the International Association of Business Communicators' Gold Quill Award for Government Relations.
Outside of work, Raman enjoys reading long-form articles, jogging, and listening to pop culture and politics podcasts.
