ABOUT

Patrick is a Vice President and General Counsel to Sussex Strategy Group. He has a decade of experience working with all three levels of government, its agencies and stakeholders.

Client’s value Patrick’s ability to navigate complex situations which he helps translate into holistic business advice. He brings a calming perspective to even the most high-stakes challenges. He is uniquely positioned to help navigate the intricacies of government and regulated environments. Working with clients to minimize risk and capitalize on opportunity, particularly during periods of uncertainty, volatility or crisis.

A lawyer by training, Patrick started his career at McCarthy Tétrault LLP acting for both public and private sector entities. He developed a practice focused on advancing the interests of his clients participating in Ontario’s energy and infrastructure industry.

Patrick also served as the Director of Policy to Ontario’s Minister of Energy, Northern Development, Mines and Indigenous Affairs. During his tenure, he played a central role in developing public policy in Ontario's energy sector, collaborating across ministry portfolios in addressing some of the most complex issues that have harrowed past governments. He previously advised the Ontario Energy Board as an analyst in the Strategic Policy and Legal Services division.

Patrick holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto, and his JD from Queen’s University Law School, both with distinction, held leadership roles in student government and received several awards for academic achievement and leadership.

Patrick is the 2023/2024 Chair of the Ontario Bar Association – Natural Resources and Energy Section. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association and regularly sits on various energy panels.
