ABOUT
As the Digital Designer, Maria’s artistic sensibility is leveraged through collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders at Sussex to craft and enhance brand identities across various channels. Maria supports the visual presence of Sussex through her ability to create compelling design work that effectively communicates the brand’s message and core values.
Throughout her career as a designer, she has worked in various industries, including oil and gas, education, beauty, hospitality, and public and non-profit sectors, developing digital and print creative projects.
Prior to Sussex, Maria worked for a Latino and Australian-owned beauty clinic, where she was able to elevate its brand by redesigning its website, improving its social media presence, and enhancing its communication channels. She was also part of a team that worked with the Colombian Air Forces, to help revamp their brand assets and improve internal and external communication, focusing on the hospitality services they offer to the members of the force. In her previous role, she contributed to creating two successful ‘Giving Tuesday’ campaigns for Canadian non-profit organizations such as Alzheimer's Society, St Michael Foundation, and others, creating digital campaigns.
Maria holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mobile Design and Development from Lambton College, where she learned more about user experience, interface design, and low-code design environments.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys exploring digital art, creating acrylic paintings, staying up to date with design and tech tools, and taking nature walks.
