ABOUT
Larry has decades of experience in the fields of education, municipal governance, and the non-profit as well as for-profit sectors. First elected as a Councillor for the City of Stoney Creek, Larry later became a Councillor for the amalgamated City of Hamilton and served as Mayor from 2003-2006. With nearly 25 years of political experience, Larry's deep understanding of governance and strategic leadership will be instrumental in delivering exceptional support and innovative solutions to our clients.
As Mayor, Larry championed the construction of a major roadway infrastructure for the city which had been debated for decades and set up a poverty roundtable to address issues of housing and homelessness for needy citizens. Larry also has extensive background in education having risen (and retired from) the position of secondary school principal with a local large school board.
Prior to Sussex, Larry also managed a consulting service providing strategic advice and advocacy to large and medium-sized business interests from Ontario as well as the United States.
As well as his business interests, Larry is committed to the community and has volunteered as Chair of a local Children’s Aid Agency and has been on the board of an anti-poverty initiative and has hosted a weekly, politically oriented television program in the Hamilton area. He is often called upon to offer political punditry on radio and television.
Larry holds a Masters Degree in Education and retired as Principal of Secondary Schools. Larry is currently appointed by the Italian province of Abruzzo to a global committee of citizens with roots in that region to provide advice on cultural and economic opportunities which would benefit the Italian province and Canada. He has also been appointed by the Italian department of Foreign Affairs to COMITES, a committee with oversight responsibilities of Consular services in the Toronto area.
Larry enjoys golf, travelling and watching his 5 grandchildren pursue their many activities.
