ABOUT

With over 35 years of experience, Ken is highly experienced in natural resource management, public lands administration, and water management. As Senior Counsel, Ken focuses on helping clients understand how the province of Ontario manages and administers provincially owned lands and waters, and how these policies and regulations impact the interests of Sussex's business clients.

Prior to Sussex, Ken spent the past two decades as an Ontario Public Service senior manager, where he played key roles in leading legislative, regulatory and policy initiatives focused on renewable energy (hydro-electric, wind, solar), public lands management, dam safety and water management, forestry and Crown land use planning, with extensive public consultation and Indigenous engagement experience.

With strong issue management and conflict resolution skills and a proven track record of achieving win-win regulatory solutions between government, stakeholders and key sectors of Ontario’s economy, Ken brings a strong commitment to pursuing the balance between economic development and environmental and community sustainability.

Active in national organizations, Ken has served as Chair of the Canadian Land Directors Association and Chair of the Regulations of Dams Committee of the Canadian Dam Association.

Ken holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Waterloo Faculty of Environmental Studies and is a graduate of the Queen’s University Smith School of Business Public Executive Program and the York University Schulich School of Business Public Management Master’s Certificate Program.

Outside of work, Ken stays active and enjoys playing hockey, golf, and cycling.
