Today the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) posted a letter, that Ontario’s Minister of Energy, Todd Smith, issued yesterday providing guidance on several supply-side decisions that will begin to shape Ontario’s future electricity grid.

Government of Ontario Launches Consultation on Third Party Net Metering
On November 1st, the Ministry of Energy (MOE) posted proposal 019-4554 to the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) to amend the provincial Net Metering Framework (NMF, O. Reg. 541/05) to provide clarity on the eligibility of a customer who is leasing or financing electricity generation assets for the purposes of net metering, commonly referred to as Third Party Ownership (TPO).

Yesterday, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) released a report entitled Decarbonization and Ontario’s Electricity Sector: Assessing the Impacts of Phasing Out Natural Gas Generation by 2030. Amid growing interest in the feasibility for deeper decarbonization, the IESO undertook to analyze the technical, operational, and financial considerations of a hypothetical implementation.

Ontario Legislature Returns With Speech From The Throne
