Based in Alberta, Brenda has over 20 years of experience in the power industry and served in senior leadership positions as a Vice President for a major power producer. Brenda has a track record of leading major strategic initiatives and delivering operational results. She has experience in a broad range of areas including business development, energy marketing, and turnaround management. Brenda brings a unique combination of commercial acumen, technical, and financial skills to help clients drive business growth and solve complex problems.
Brenda has performed in leadership roles in Canada, the United States, and Australia. She has a demonstrated record of successes achieved under a variety of market structures, and working with diverse groups of stakeholders including customers, partners, first nations, governments and their agencies, environmentalists, and regulators. She had led greenfield development of over $2 billion in successful projects, as well as acquisitions, divestitures, and mine expansions. She has developed asset turnaround strategies and driven implementation of initiatives adding over $1 billion in additional value, including contract renegotiations in areas such as power sales, fuel purchases, rail transportation, and forestry contracts. She has led significant commercial and sales organizations including groups responsible for over $1 billion in annual revenues.
Brenda has spoken as a development expert at conferences in both Alberta and Ontario. Brenda was appointed by the Ontario Minister of Energy to the Ontario Power Authority’s Stakeholder Advisory Committee, served for many years as a Director of the Association of Power Producers of Ontario (APPrO), and serves on various not-for-profit boards.
Brenda holds degrees in Economics and Applied Science (Mechanical Engineering) from Queen’s University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
